The intent behind this project was to simplify the concept of a kitchen scale. The idea was to create a scale that is practical & easy to use in the kitchen. For this I went with an analog design where the weight is measured through the balance of a counterweight. 

In order to measure the weight of something correctly, you place whatever you need to weigh in the bowl and move the counterweight so that it balances out the scale and using the measurements you have the exact weight of your ingredients. 

The materials used are bronze with a special sandblasting treatment to give it a matte texture, and also wood that is stained to give a warmer tone & a protective layer of wax that protects it & allows it to be cleaned in the kitchen. 

The idea was to have a stark contrast between the two materials that in the end complement each other very well, due to the very different textures they bring.
